No sport comes injury free. While sports are a great way for our bodies to get the exercise that they need, they are also a frequent way of causing our bodies a lot of stress and pain. Golf is not an exception to this rule. Many people think golf looks like a low impact sport and will not cause them the kind of body pain that football or tennis might. This is an untrue belief that leads many of the increasing number of golfers to experience injuries that could have otherwise been prevented through a simple degree of preparedness. The following tips are designed to help you avoid common golf injuries.
Compliance breeds resentment. It may grow gradually, but eventually we get to a point where our dissatisfaction needs to find an outlet. I was talking to a lady the other day who mentioned that she has a hard time speaking her truth: “Eventually I’ll get to the point where I start crying for no apparent reason. Or I snap at the tiniest of things. It makes me feel even worse, guilty even, because I wonder why I can’t just be nice. But I know it’s because I haven’t expressed my needs in my relationship.” Internalizing your “no” can lead to physical stress, lack of self confidence, and for some even the belief that you do much better when you’re on your own.
I know soccer purists hate this suggestion, because they claim it will ruin the quality of the game. I find their objections very unconvincing (especially with my suggestion where I would limit it to two players even on direct or corner kicks). There would more excitement, more action, more fast breaks, and most importantly, more scoring. I played soccer in high school and I tried to watch games in the last 3 World Cups. Even the Brazilian men were boring. Some of the games were unbearable, and I love all sports.
As for grandad, if he’s a serious football fan, then football books make glorious grandad presents; he’ll see his name embossed in gold on the front cover, and be able to relive his team’s magnificent history.
Don’t use complicated lighting techniques for taking your candid shots. Concentrate on the simple and use your camera’s automatic features. Technical problems don’t matter so much if you have a great candid photo. Most technical problems (like if the image is too dark or too light) can be fixed on your computer.
Make sure you cherish your time with your family this year. Eat to your heart’s content. Have an extra slice of pie or cake, but please don’t try the icing with a dip of your finger. I’m sorry but you cannot have just one bite of my casserole, not off my fork or yours.
This open weekend will be a membership drive as well as raising money for the Shriners Hospital of Tampa. So if you have some free time this weekend, why not check out the food, the great live entertainment, and get ‘them dancing shoes on’. If you don’t know an Eagle, then I would be really happy to see you there.
